Madeira Beach, Fla. – The Presbyterian College softball team was defeated twice on Saturday at day two of the Madeira Beach Tournament. The Blue Hose fell to Detroit Mercy 11-1 in their first match-up and dropped a 4-1 decision to Siena in the second contest. PC is now 4-12-2 on the season.

 

Lindsay Harris smacked her first home run of the season against the Saints in bottom of the fourth inning. It was also the junior’s first RBI of the year.

 

Alyssa Batastini started both games in the circle for the Blue Hose. She allowed four runs on four hits in 1.2 innings in the first game against the Titans. She would improve against Siena, working 5.2 innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits.

 

Courtney White, Sarah Ramsbottom, and Taylor Ward each worked in relief against Detroit Mercy. White pitched 2.2 innings, over a pair of stints on the rubber, without allowing a run. Ramsbottom threw for 1.1 innings, giving up four unearned runs in the top of the fifth before being replaced by Ward. Ward also pitched for 1.1 innings against the Titans, allowing three runs on six hits. Ward collected the last out against Siena.

 

Ansley Wilbanks plated the lone run for the Blue Hose against Detroit Mercy. The senior leads the squad with 11 runs batted in on the campaign.

 

The Blue Hose will wrap up their time in Madeira Beach tomorrow with a match-up against Central Michigan. First pitch of that game is slated for 11:30 a.m.
