Presbyterian College forward Cory Hightower (Flint, Mich.) has been named the Big South Freshman of the Week, while Radford redshirt-sophomore guard Carlik Jones (Cincinnati, Ohio) has been named Player of the Week, for games played Feb. 4-10, it was announced today.

Hightower posted averages of 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals in helping the Blue Hose to two Big South wins. He opened with 11 points and a career-high six helpers in PC’s victory over UNC Asheville. Hightower followed with 16 points -- including 10 in the second half, as well as a team-high seven rebounds plus three steals in an overtime win over Gardner-Webb. Hightower finished the week 13-of-17 from the field ( =76.5 percent).

Jones averaged 21.0 points, 6.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals in two overtime wins last week. He opened with a career-high 28 points to go along with seven assists, four rebounds and a steal in Radford’s 101-98 OT win at Hampton on Feb. 7. Jones banked in the game-tying three-pointer to force the extra period, and drained the game-winning three as time expired. In Saturday’s 69-66 overtime win over High Point, Jones scored 10 of his 14 points in the final four minutes of regulation plus OT, and added five assists, five boards as well as the game-sealing steal on HPU’s final possession.
