San Antonio, Texas – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team needed to battle the elements to win their match 4-1 against Incarnate Word on Saturday. The match was delayed multiple hours due to rain in the San Antonio area and slick playing conditions.

“It was a long day of delays but Incarnate Word was great to make sure that the match got played,” said head coach Steve Brooks. “This was a very tough match. The team fought hard against a strong team.”

The Blue Hose took the doubles point thanks to victories from the pairings of Beth Taylor and Katie Thompson and Tracy Johnson and Samantha Calais.

In singles play, Taylor won in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, to get things started. Calais earned her second win in a three set contest, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. Sydney Patton clinched the match for the Blue Hose after rallying from being down 3-5 in the second set after dropping the first. She took home a 1-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory on court one.
