DAYTON, Ohio – The Blue Hose were unable to contain a red hot shooting Dayton in the first half as the host Flyers defeated the Presbyterian College men’s basketball team 81-69 on Saturday afternoon at UD Arena. Adam Flagler and Francois Lewis led PC with 20 points apiece.

Scoring the Game
Dayton opened on a 13-3 run in the opening four minutes as the Flyers red hot offense shot 76% in the first half. The Blue Hose were able to cut the lead to five after a Francois Lewis layup and Davon Bell three pointer just a minute later. The hosts opened it back up again with a quick 8-3 run to take a 21-11 lead before they pushed the lead out to 17 with 5:24 to go in the half. Dayton closed the opening half on a 12-1 run to take a 45-17 lead to the intermission.

Dayton was able to maintain a 20+ point lead throughout the opening nine minutes of the second half. The Blue Hose quickly responded with an 11-0 run behind 3 three pointers with two coming from Adam Flagler to make it 62-44 with 8:32 to go. Back-to-back threes from Adam Flagler cut the lead to 14, 66-52 with 6:13 to go. Dayton had a quick 5-0 burst that stretched the lead back out to 19 but PC continued to battle going back and forth with the Flyers cutting it to 14, 77-63 with 2:40 remaining. The Blue Hose got it a 12-point deficit on two separate occasions with the last of those occurring with an 81-69 final score.

Players of the Game
Flagler and Lewis led the Blue Hose offense with 20 points apiece as both shot 7-of-17 from the floor. Flagler buried six three pointers, while also grabbing five rebounds. Lewis hit four triples as he picked up five rebounds as well in the contest. Cory Hightower added 11 points and Davon Bell chipped in with 10 points. Hightower led the rebounding attack for PC with eight. Davon Bell dished out six assists. Jalen Crutcher led the attack for Dayton with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting to go along with six rebounds and five assists.

Stats of the Game
Dayton shot a solid 60% from the floor including shooting 76% in the first half, while holding PC to 18.8% in the opening half and 34.7% for the game. The Blue Hose made 14 threes compared to Dayton’s six threes. PC held a 37-36 rebounding advantage which included a 17-5 lead on the offensive glass. Presbyterian had only nine turnovers while forcing 13 by the hosts.

- It marked the fourth game for both Flagler and Lewis to hit the 20-point plateau this season.
- The 14 made threes is tied for sixth in the Presbyterian Division One record book.
- PC’s 41 attempted threes are tied for third in the Blue Hose D1 era.
- Presbyterian’s 17 offensive rebounds are a new season-high eclipsing the 16 pulled down against Trinity.
