SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate picked up a 3-0 win over the Presbyterian College men’s soccer team on Saturday night at County University Soccer Stadium. The Blue Hose moved to 3-10 on the year and 3-2 in Big South play, while the Spartans improved to 3-8 overall and 3-3 in Conference play.


How It Happened


The Blue Hose tested the Spartans early with Sergio Pinto and Plamen Mangarov forcing saves from Upstate’s Andrea Bonavia within the game’s first three minutes.


Jaedon Williamson then gave Upstate the 1-0 lead at the 16:22 mark with an assist from Cam Philpot.


Pinto nearly found the equalizer just before the half, but his shot hit the crossbar. At the break, PC led on shots 11-2 and corner kicks 4-0.


Upstate sealed the win with a pair of second-half goals from Anson Girone (51’) and Sebastian Quinteros (84’). Both goals were scored after an initial save from Jan Hoffelner who ended the game with five saves.
