Clinton, S.C. - The Presbyterian College volleyball team dropped a five-set thriller on Saturday afternoon to Radford. The Blue Hose fell to the Highlanders 13-25, 25-22, 18-25. 25-20, and 15-9.
A trio of freshmen led the way for PC offensively. Erin Cooke recorded her third triple-double of the season with 11 kills, 23 assists, and 14 digs. Lauren Talbert and Trinity Williams tied for the team lead in kills, 13. Talbert also collected the most digs in the match with 19. Sophomores Allie Wright (5 kills, 6 blocks) and Sydney De Jong (8 kills, 5 blocks) each contributed both offensively and defensively. Junior Erin Eulitz chipped in with 10 kills and 17 digs. Sophomore Sierra Jones paced PC with 28 kills and four aces.
The Blue Hose exploded out of the gate in the first set. PC was able to expand a 7-6 lead to a 12-point advantage by winning 13 of the next 15 points. The Blue Hose recorded a .433 hitting percentage, highlighted by Williams' four kills and .667 hitting percentage. Eulitz and Talbert each picked up three kills in the set.
In the third set, PC once again used a strong hitting percentage to lead to a set victory. The Blue Hose had a .375 hitting percentage in the set, led by Cooke and her 6 kills and .500 hitting percentage. She also tallied six assists in the set. The Blue Hose found themselves in a tight set late, leading 18-16. They would take seven of the next nine points to finish the set.
