Charleston, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team was outlasted in a five-set battle on Tuesday night by Charleston Southern. The Bucs defeated the Blue Hose 16-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16, and 15-9.


Freshman Erin Cooke recorded her second triple-double in three matches, collecting 11 kills, 17 assists, and 11 digs. Junior Erin Eulitz paced the Blue Hose with 15 kills and also tallied 15 digs for a double-double. Freshman Lauren Talbert also had a double-double (12 kills, 17 digs). Sophomore Sierra Jones led the Blue Hose with 26 assists in the match. Redshirt junior Daley Gosnell topped the team with 31 digs on the night.


The Blue Hose started quickly on Friday night with the help of a pair of large scoring runs in the first set. PC would score five straight points to extend its lead to 19-13, and would also score the final four points of the set to win 25-16.


PC jumped out to a 10-5 lead early in the third set, but the Bucs rallied and evened it up at 13. The Blue Hose grew their lead to three, 19-16, but Charleston Southern fought back to tie the set at 20 all. The Bucs and Blue Hose would once again be tied at 23-23, but the Blue Hose would prevail, scoring the final two points of the set.


PC led early in the fourth set, but the Bucs used a 14-5 scoring run to force a fifth and final set. Charleston Southern carried their momentum from the previous set and downed the Blue Hose, 15-9.
