Charlotte, N.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team dropped its final match in the Charlotte Invitational against Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Hose fell to the Hokies 22-25, 11-25, and 21-25.

Freshman Trinity Williams led PC offensively with nine kills. Classmate Erin Cooke paced the Blue Hose with 13 assists and filled the stat sheet with six kills and eight digs. Redshirt junior Sierra Davis and sophomores Sydney De Jong and Allie Wright each tallied four kills in the match. De Jong also had a team-high four blocks. Redshirt junior Daley Gosnell led the Blue Hose with 14 digs.

In the first set, PC jumped out to a 9-4 lead before Virginia Tech called timeout. Following the timeout, the Hokies went on a 11-4 run to take a two-point lead, 15-13. The Blue Hose would tie the set at 21, but Virginia Tech scored four of the next five points to take the set. The Hokies took a quick 5-0 lead in the third set, but PC would go on a 10-5 run to tie the set at 15. Virginia Tech then scored on three straight points and the Blue Hose would match that, tying the score at 18. The Hokies then scored three straight points once again, bringing the score to 21-18. Virginia Tech would take four of the next seven points for the set and match victory.

The Blue Hose will be back in action on Friday, August 31. They will play a pair of matches as part of the Kennesaw State Tournament in Kennesaw, Georgia.
