DAVIDSON, NC – The Presbyterian College baseball team dropped an 8-4 game to Davidson on Wednesday after the Wildcats scored six runs in the fifth inning. Michael Varga and Guy Casaceli both went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead PC. The Blue Hose fall to 13-35 while the Wildcats improve to 32-16.

 

How It Happened

 

In the bottom of the first, Davidson took a 1-0 lead after three walks and a hit batter pushed Andrew Born across.

 

The Blue Hose took the lead in the fourth inning off four hits and an error. AJ Priaulx led off the inning with a single through the left side. Nick Wise then reached on a fielder’s choice and stole second to get into scoring position. Andrew Bladt then reached on a throwing error by the shortstop that also scored Wise. Back-to-back doubles from Varga and Casaceli and a single from Jonathan White gave PC the 4-1 lead.

 

In the bottom of the fifth, Davidson scored six runs on four hits, all with two outs. Alec Acosta and Justin Lebek doubled to drive in four runs. Centracchio then scored on a balk, and Lebek scored on a triple from Alex Mardiney to put the Wildcats up 7-4.

 

Davidson scored once more in the sixth on an RBI single from Acosta.

 

Pitchers of Record

 

Connor Jahn (0-3) took the loss for PC after allowing five runs on two hits over 0.2 innings of work. He struck out one and walked three.

 

Connor Gordon (7-2) picked up the win for Davidson. He allowed four runs on five hits over 2.0 innings.

 

Casey Sutherland picked up his sixth save of the season pitching 4.0 innings of scoreless baseball, allowing just one hit and striking out three.
