GREENSBORO, NC – The Presbyterian College baseball team fell to North Carolina A&T by a score of 8-5 at War Memorial Stadium on Wednesday. The Blue Hose threatened with bases loaded in the ninth, but the Aggies’ Josh Strikeleather held on to secure the win. PC falls to 5-13 on the season while NC A&T improves to 5-12.

How it Happened

The Aggies struck first with three runs and six hits over the first three innings. Starter Austin Paradis settled down to only allow one hit after the third and retired the side 1-2-3 in the fifth. The freshman finished with three strikeouts and one walk in 5.0 innings of work.

In the top of the fourth inning, PC replied with three runs on four walks and two errors. Guy Casaceli led off by reaching on an error by the second baseman. Back-to-back walks to Rob Greco and Jonathan White loaded the bases for AJ Priaulx. The senior reached on an error by the first baseman to bring Casaceli in and keep the bases loaded. Jack McLaughlin then recorded a sac fly to score Greco. Then, back-to-back walks to Nick Wise and TJ Richardson tied the game at 3-3. The Aggies brought on their third pitcher of the day, Leon Hunter, who was able to strike out the next two batters and end the PC rally.

PC took the lead, 4-3, in the top of the fifth inning off a sac fly by Priaulx. In the sixth, Tannor Byrd broke up the no-hitter with a single to third base.

The Aggies tied the game in the bottom of the sixth off a Rorie James single to right. They would take the lead in the seventh, recording three hits off Ryan Hall and two off Will Smith to go up 8-4.

In the top of the eighth, Wise led off with a single to left field. He would come around to score three batters later on an error by the third baseman, making the score 8-5.

Pitchers of Record

Ryan Hall (0-1) gave up four runs on three hits in 0.1 innings of work to take the loss in relief.

Josh Bottenfield (1-2) picked up the win in relief after giving up one run on one hit and striking out two batters in 1.2 innings of work.

Josh Strikeleather came on in the ninth inning to pick up his second save of the season.
