Boiling Springs, N.C. – A 16-2 run over the final six minutes of the second quarter was enough to give the Blue Hose separation in a 60-50 win over Gardner-Webb at Paul Porter Arena on Tuesday night. Kacie Hall led PC with 18 points.

Presbyterian went on 7-2 run over the first 5:06 of the second to pull within one at 15-14 at the media timeout. Blackwell-Boyden had a lay-up and one to get the run started. Following the media timeout Hall would go on a personal 10-0 run to put the Blue Hose ahead 24-15, it was a 14-0 run before Gardner-Webb got on the board. Storey finished the half with a layup as time expired giving PC the 26-17 halftime lead.
The offense came to life in the third quarter as each team scored 20 points. Hall led the way with eight points in the quarter. Presbyterian made four three-pointers in the third quarter after making three in the first half.
PC held Gardner-Webb scoreless over the first 3:20 of the fourth quarter but was only able to score three points themselves. The Runnin’ Bulldogs followed the dry spell with a score on four straight possessions but the Blue Hose scored as well keeping Gardner-Webb from getting on a run. Miles who had a season high 10 rebounds by midpoint of the fourth quarter got her first points with two free throws, she then hit a three to keep the Blue Hose rolling in the fourth quarter. Storey went 3-4 from the free throw line down the stretch to finish off the 60-50 win.
“So proud of the fight in our team tonight,” said coach Todd Steelman. “We were focused, executed well and were opportunistic in transition. Kacie (Hall) really got us rolling offensively and we were able to sustain things from the second quarter on. Now it is up to us to finish well in conference play, starting with a big game Saturday against Radford.”
