Radford, Va. – A 33-6 run that stretched the last 4:30 of the first quarter and the entire second quarter propelled the Highlanders past the Blue Hose 93-55 on Saturday afternoon at the Dedmon Center.
Player of the Game
Cortney Storey recorded her seventh 20-point effort of the season and time number 13 for her career. She scored 16 of the 20 points in the second half while also finishing with five assists and four rebounds. Janie Miles finished with 15 points and tied Storey for the team lead in rebounds with four. Macee Tamminen with nine points and Kacie Hall with eight led the way for 52 of the Blue Hose’s 55 points.
Stat of the Game
Radford shot the ball at a record pace as their 72.2 percent shooting from the field is a Dedmon Center record, it also had the size advantage winning the rebounding margin 40-17 and 58-16 in points in the paint. The Blue Hose for the seventh time this season made 10-plus three-pointers and outscored Radford 30-18 from behind the arc.
The Blue Hose fought to the end as they outscored the Highlanders 24-15 in third period pulling to within 24 at 64-40 to start the fourth period. PC made 40.0 (8-20) percent of its three-point shots in the second half and never gave up. Miles scored 13 points in the period alone to help propel the Blue Hose to the 24 points in the third period as she made four three-pointers. Ultimately with a big fourth quarter Radford would win the second half 44-39. Storey and Miles combined for 29 of the 39 points.
Tamminen was the catalyst early for the Blue Hose as she hit a pair of three-pointers in the first period. Her second three made it a 16-10 game and that is where Radford began its 33-6 run that lasted the remainder of the first half.
“Radford did a great job of moving the ball and finding the open players,” said coach Todd Steelman. “We are working to make it more difficult for teams to score, and it is a slow process at times. If we can focus on the defensive end and get stops, our offense is working well enough for us to compete.”

Radford improves to 11-6, 4-2 in Big South play while PC moves to 5-12, 2-4 in conference play.
PC made 10 or more three-pointers for the seventh time this season.
Storey scored 20 points for the seventh time this season and 13th time for her career.
Storey recorded five assists making is 15 straight games with at least four assists.
Tamminen made multiple three-pointers for the sixth time this season.
This was the 11th multi-three pointer game of the season for Miles and the fifth time in which she made four or more.
The Blue Hose return home to host the Winthrop Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23. PC has won four in a row in the series including wins of 78-39 and 64-50 in the 2016-17 season.
