Charlotte, N.C. – Cortney Storey has been named the Big South Player of the Week for November 6-12. She posted 40 points, eight rebounds and six assists in PC’s two games at San Diego State and UCLA, and was the game’s leading scorer in both contests.
In the season opener versus San Diego State she would tally 22 points, six rebounds and three assists. This was her seventh career 20-point performance. In the Blue Hose trip to Historic Pauley Pavilion she would score 18 points and tally another three assists. She is shooting 54.5 percent from behind the three-point arc and 53.3 percent as a whole through the first two games.
The 40 points scored in the first two games is her most to start a season and the fourth most in a two game stretch for her career. She had 45 points on February 7 and February 10, 2015 in games versus Radford (18) and Coastal Carolina (27). She also scored 41 in two games on two separate occasions in the 2016-17 season.
“Cortney put in the work in the off season to improve,” said PC head coach Todd Steelman. “Her play to start the season has shown her efforts are paying off. We are glad to see her recognized for her performances this weekend.”
The Blue Hose are back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Spartanburg to face the USC Upstate Spartans at 7:00 p.m.
