The Presbyterian College rallied back from an early 1-0 deficit with three straight set wins to take the 3-1 victory over Gardner-Webb in Big South action Tuesday night in Boling Springs, N.C. Erin Eulitz provided the spark on PC’s offense with a career-high 18 kills.
Scoring the Match
Gardner-Webb stormed out to a 5-1 lead, with PC rallying back to within one, 10-11, helped in part to a 5-2 run. The Runnin’ Bulldogs responded with five straight to extend the lead to 16-11. GWU kept at least a four point lead, extending it to 24-16 off a 4-1 run. The Blue Hose scored six unanswered, highlighted by two kills from Erin Eulitz, to cut it to 22-24, but a Tyra Long kill ended the rally and gave GWU the 25-22 first set win.
PC started strong in the second set, opening up a 6-2 lead before the Bulldogs knotted it at 6-6 off four straight. The Blue Hose used a 4-1 run to take the 10-7 lead, but GWU fought back, taking a 15-14 lead before PC tied it back at 15-15 off a Caroline Henderson kill. A back and forth battle ensued with the teams tying it up several more times, including at 22-22. A GWU attack error gave PC the lead back at 23-22, but a Nicole Celarek kill tied it up again at 23-23. Tied at 24-24, a bad set by Gardner-Webb and a Eulitz kill gave PC the 26-24 second set win.
The third set saw six ties, including at 18-18. PC used an Allie Wright kill and an Ashton Stewart block o build a 20-18 lead. A Keira Moore kill and PC attack error knotted the set for the seventh time at 20-20. Another two-point swing off back-to-back kills for PC and the Blue Hose went up 22-20. GWU tied it again at 22-22, but PC took the next three of four points to win the third set, 25-23.
Tied 9-9 In the fourth set, PC went on an 11-2 run to jump out to a 20-11 lead. Three straight by GWU, including back o back kills from Celarek, cut the margin to six, 20-14. Eulitz ended the small drought with a kill to make it 21-14. The Bulldogs used another 3-0 run to make it 21-17, but three unanswered from PC, which including kills from Wright and Henderson, too the Blue Hose to match point, 24-17. After GWU cut it to four, 24-18, Eulitz sealed the win with her career-high 18th kill to give PC the 3-1 victory.
Player of the Match
Erin Eulitz led the offense with her 18 kills, with Allie Wright adding five blocks and nine kills. Daley Gosnell posted 26 digs, while Jaclyn Brewington added 21 assists. Kaelyn Dyson led GWU with 16 kills.
Stat of the Match
Errors were difference with Gardner-Webb committing 32 of them, compared to 14 for PC. GWU led in kills, 59-43, but trailed in attack percentage, .137-.161.
Erin Eulitz recorded a career-high 18 kills.
PC tied is second-lowest error total of the season with 14.
It was the 12th four-set match of the season, PC is now 4-8 in those contests.

PC improves to 5-15 overall and 2-5 in the Big South, while Gardner-Webb drops to 7-13, 1-6.
