SWANANOA, NC – The Presbyterian College men’s and women’s cross country teams finished 10th at the Asheville Cross Country Invitational at the Asheville Christian Academy on Saturday, Sept. 23.

In the men’s 4-mile race, Duncan Gotfredson paced the Blue Hose with a time of 22:01. William Wise (22:23) and Banner Plumb (22:30) finished close behind. Also scoring for PC, Neel Taber ran 23:14, and Alex Johnson ran 25:58. In their first races of the year, Jake Birdsong ran 27:24 and Zach Morin ran 33:37.

Carson-Newman's Luke Greer won the men's race at 20:15. UNC-Asheville scored 54 points to win the men's team title. The Blue Hose tied with Garner-Webb with 264 points, but the Bulldogs took ninth with the tie-breaker.

In the women’s 2-mile race, Sally Hart led PC with a time of 12:39. Ripley Fricano finished moments later in 13:17. Denise Devaney and Bea DiBona crossed together at 14:00. In her season debut, Emily Swanigan finished 5th for PC in a time of 14:16. Hydia Green was close behind at 14:43. Kennedy Brooks crossed the line at 15:54.

Wofford’s Hannah Steelman won the women’s race with a time of 10:51, and the Terriers took the team title with 45 points. PC finished 10th with 251 points.

The Blue Hose will run next at The Citadel’s Will Wilson Invitational on James Island on Saturday, Sept. 30.
