Radford scored in the top of the seventh inning to break open a 1-1 tie and take the 2-1 win over the Presbyterian College softball team in the first game of a three-game series Friday afternoon at the PC Softball Complex in Clinton, S.C.

Scoring the Game
Neither team recorded a hit in the first two and a half innings, the first coming off a single from Jonnie Petree with two outs in the bottom of the third. She stole second for her team-leading 25th stolen base of the season, and scored off a RBI single up the middle from Blaire Miller to give PC the 1-0 lead.

Marissa Gagliano led off the fourth with a walk, advancing to second off a sacrifice bunt. She tied the game the next at-bat off a RBI single to center from Hunter Mundy.

Maggie Rowe opened the seventh with a single to right. She scored the next at-bat off a PC error, during Summer Robinson’s sacrifice bunt, to break the deadlock and give the Highlanders the 2-1 lead and eventual win.

Players of the Game
Petree led PC with three hits, with Miller pacing the team in RBI with one. Miller, Hope Rogers, and Rebekka Gross each had one hit on the game. Katie Brown went 4.1 innings and gave up two hits and one run, with Alex Cook coming in for 2.2 innings. She surrendered two hits and one run in the loss (5-11)

Mundy posted a hit and RBI for Radford, with Rowe getting one hit as well. Hannah Medlam recorded two hits. Abby Morrow led Radford in 7.0 innings. She gave up seven hits and one run, while striking out six (17-10).

Final Lines
PC recorded seven hits and one error, while scoring one run. Radford posted four hits, one error, and came away with two runs. PC stranded six runners, compared to three for Radford.

For the Record
PC moves to 16-29 overall and 5-11 in the league, while Radford improves to 24-20, 5-8.
