The Presbyterian College softball team broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take the eventual 8-3 win over South Carolina State in Saturday action at the WIllie Jewell's Invitational being held Feb. 24-26, in Charleston, S.C.

Courtney White went two-for-two with two runs scored, while Hope Rogers posted one hit, but it was a two-run double in the fifth inning to give PC its first two runs of the game. Katie Brown was solid in the circle, going the distance, giving up just four hits and three unearned runs. She struck out five as well to move to 3-4 on the year.

How It Happened
PC opened the fifth with the first three of four batters recording hits, a two-RBI double by Hope Rogers making it 2-0. A groundout to short bought in the third run. Much like the fifth inning, the first four of five batters recorded hits, with Blaire Miller, Lindsay Harris, and Jonnie Petree posting RBI hits to give PC the 6-0 lead. A RBI single by Unique Deanna Whitehurst and two-RBI double Sullivan cut the lead to 6-3, but PC responded with two in the seventh, to take the 8-3 win.

Final Lines
PC finished with 11 hits and eight runs, with three errors, while SC State recorded four hits and three runs, with two errors.

Whitney Gaylor (0-4) went the distance for the Bulldogs, giving up five earned runs and 11 hits, with four strikeouts. Katie Brown took the win (3-4), going 7.0 innings and surrendering no earned runs off four hits.

For the Record
PC moves to 4-9, while South Carolina State moves to 0-11.
