10th-Ranked Georgia surrendered just three hits and belted out 13, to take the 10-1 win in five innings over the Presbyterian College softball team in game one action of a non-conference doubleheader in Athens, Ga. Courtney White hit a home run in the second hit, the first her career.

Courtney White gave PC its only run of the game with her first career home run, this one a shot over the right field wall in the second inning.

How It Happened
Georgia opened the bottom of the first with back to back singles, with Maeve McGuire bringing both runners home off a two-RBI double to right. She would score a couple of batters later off a PC error. A Ciara Bryan single up the middle would bring in Georgia’s fourth and final run of the inning.

The Blue Hose responded with a run in the top of the second off a solo home run from Courtney White, the first of her career. The Bulldogs answered in the bottom of the second with four more runs. Back to back singles, a PC error and another McGuire double put the Bulldogs up 6-1. Mahlena O’Neal sent a two-run shot over the right field wall two batters later to give the Bulldogs an 8-1 lead. Alyssa DiCario gave Georgia the 10-1 lead in the fourth with a two-run home run.

Courtney White gave PC its first home run of the season and the first of her career.

Both Megan Anderson and Rebekka Gross picked up their second hits of the season each.

Final Lines
Georgia finished with 10 runs off 13 hits and no errors. PC recorded one run off three hits and posted three errors.

Katie Brown took the loss, moving to 1-2 on the season. She went 3.0 innings and surrendered eight earned runs off 12 hits. In relief Natasha Sherrod gave up just one hit and no runs with one strikeout in 1.0 inning. For Georgia, Mary Wilson Avant started and went 3.0 innings, giving up just one run and three hits, while striking out three. Amanda Ablan went 2.0 innings in relief, striking out four.

For the Record
PC falls to 1-4 on the season, while Georgia improves to 6-0.

PC will take on Georgia in game two beginning at 5:30 p.m. Up next the Blue Hose take part in the USC Upstate/Furman Classic Feb. 18-19. PC faces Iona (3 p.m.) and host Furman (5 p.m.) in Greenville on Saturday, before heading to Spartanburg Sunday for games against Iona (11 a.m.) and host USC Upstate (1 p.m.).
