CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College men’s tennis player Brandon Mills has been named the Big South Player of the Week by the league on Wednesday. It was the first such honor of his career and the first by a PC player since last season.
The Blue Hose opened the season last weekend with Mills going 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles competition. The junior earned a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3 over NC Central in the season opener on Saturday, before a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 2 against ECU the following day.
In doubles, he teamed up with Alejandro Bejar for a 6-4 win at No. 3 against NC Central on Saturday. They would fall on Sunday against ECU in a close match on court three.
Mills is the first Blue Hose player to receive Big South Player of the Week since Danny Bruce claimed the honor on March 30 last season and is just the sixth different PC player to earn the honor. He also received two Freshman of the Week honors in 2015 as a rookie.
