Longwood used a 17-5 run, and shot over 65% in the second half, to help erase a halftime deficit and rally past the Presbyterian College men’s basketball team, 79-76, in Big South action Wednesday evening in Farmville, Va. PC got back to within three with a few seconds remaining but a potential three-point to tie the game fell just short. Four Blue Hose scored in double-figures in the contest.

Stat of the Game
In a game of runs, Longwood scored when it mattered the most, hitting 17 of 26 field goals in the second half to erase a seven-point halftime deficit, and earn the three-point win. The Lancers finished the game with 59.2 %, and were nine-of-17 from the perimeter. The Blue Hose shot over 40% for the ninth time this season, with 47%. The Blue Hose shot 50% in the first half, but 44.1% in the second. PC attempted 66 field goals, compared to just 49 for Longwood.

Player of the Game
Ed Drew paced the team with 14 points and eight rebounds. He was six-of-nine from the field and has now scored double-figures in three games. Other Blue Hose in double figures were Reggie Dillard with 12 points, Will Adams with 11, and Jaron Withers with 10.

Davon Bell had a strong return to the lineup after missing the last seven games due to injury. He posted seven points and tied for the team lead in assists with five.

How It Happened
Longwood jumped out to a 16-9 lead the opening nine minutes of the first half, extending it to 22-12 at 9:56 off a Darrion Allen three-pointer. The PC offense clicked three-and-a-half minutes later off a three-pointer from Reggie Dillard. It ignited a 19-5 run that saw the Blue Hose storm ahead and go to the locker room leading 38-31.

A minute into the second half, PC held a 42-31 lead off a Dillard basket at 19:04, before Longwood used a 17-5 run, capped by a Isaiah Walton jumper at the 14th minute mark, to take a 48-47 lead. Five straight from PC, including a Will Adams three-pointer, gave the Blue Hose the 52-48 lead back. Longwood erased a 61-59 PC lead with a three from Isaac Belton at the 6:49 mark and took a 62-61 lead. It was part of back to back three-pointers as Longwood took a 65-61 lead. 4:01 to go, Ed Drew made it a one-possession game, 67-65, 4:01 to go, before Khris Lane's jumper gave the Lancers a four-point lead again.

Millner's two free throws at 2:58 cut the margin to just one, 68-69, but Longwood scored six to build a 75-68 lead just over a minute to play. PC cut the lead down to four off a Millner three-pointer with 31 seconds to go, and to within three off a Drew layup with 12 seconds to go. PC got the ball with just a couple of seconds to go but Dillard three-point attempt just missed, giving Longwood the 79-76 win.

The 11 steals is tied for ninth in PC’s Division I history. PC went 31-of-66 from the field, to tie for 18th and 13th, respectively, in the record book.

The Blue Hose led the scoring in the paint for the eighth time this season, handling Longwood, 40-28.

PC’s 10 turnovers were tied for the fewest since recording nine in the season-opener against Furman.

For the Record
PC drops to 4-10 overall and 0-3 in the Big South, while Longwood improves to 6-8, 3-0.
