USC Upstate went 13-of-22 from the perimeter to lead the Spartans to the 76-48 win over the Presbyterian College men’s basketball team in action Tuesday evening in Spartanburg, S.C. Darius Moore led the PC effort with 14 points, with Ed Drew pacing the team with 12 rebounds.
Stat of the Game
USC Upstate went 13-of-22 from beyond the three-point arc, including seven in the first half to help build a 25-point lead. The Spartans continued their success in the second half with six, finishing the game with a 59.1%. It marked the seventh time this season opponents have hit double-figure three-pointers against PC.
PC shot 35.8% from the field, including 43.5% in the second half, and was two-of-18 from the perimeter. USC Upstate held a slight 34-32 rebounding advantage with PC leading in turnovers, 14-10.
Player of the Game
Darius Moore connected on a career-high 14 points against the Spartans, going five-of-11 with two three-pointers. Ed Drew also tied his career-high with a team-leading 12 rebounds. Jo'Vontae Millner added 12 points as well.
How It Happened
USC Upstate opened the game with back to back three-pointers before PC got on the board off an Ed Drew jumper to make it 6-2 Spartans, 8:02 to go before intermission. After an Armel TeTe basket at 13:18 made it a three-point game, 11-8, the Spartans responded with a 19-0 run, helped by three straight three-pointers, to build a 22-point lead, 30-8, 5:48 left. Darius Moore’s jumper at 5:25 ended the drought for PC. Upstate extended its lead to 25, 37-12, 4:12 left, before the Blue Hose ended he half on a 10-0 run, with six coming from Jo’Vontae Millner, to head to the locker room trailing by 15, 37-22.
PC and USC Upstate traded baskets the first several minutes of the second half, but every time the Blue Hose cut into the margin, the Spartans seemed to have an answer. Upstate took a 21-point lead, 55-34, with 11:17 remaining off a three from Jure Span. It marked the team’s 10th three-pointer of the game. The Blue Hose hit their first three-pointer of the night off the hands of Moore at the 5:25 mark to cut the margin to 28, 68-40. Moore’s basket at 1:38 cut the margin to 26, that being the last as USC Upstate came away with the 76-48 win.
Freshman Jo’Vontae Millner has now scored double-digits in six of nine games this season. Darius Moore finished with a career-high 14 points and has now posted at least two three-pointers in the last three games in a row.

PC drops to 3-6, while USC Upstate improves to 7-5.
