The Presbyterian College men’s basketball team scored 34 points in the second half but could not overcome an 18-point halftime deficit, falling, 82-56, at Boise State Friday evening in Boise, Idaho. Three Blue Hose scored in double-figures, with the PC bench coming away with 38 points on the night.

Player of the Game
Austin Venable scored a career-high 11 points and a season-high five rebounds to lead the Blue Hose. It was his first double-digit game of the season and just the second of his career. He was five-of-seven from the field in just 15 minutes of action.

Stat of the Game
Free throws and fouls played a key role in the first half surge for Boise State, with the Broncos hitting 11-of-13 from the charity stripe off 13 PC fouls. BSU was called for just five fouls the first 20 minutes. Fouls evened out in the second half, with the Broncos finishing with 18 fouls, PC 24. Free throws remained heavily in favor of the home team, as Boise State hit 23-of-26, compared to six-of-11 for the Blue Hose.

In the first half, turnovers were 10-3 in favor of PC, with the Broncos turning those into 10 points. PC recorded just four in the second and forced seven on BSU for a 14-10 total.

How It Happened
After a three-pointer by Jaron Withers at the 12:27 mark in the first half cut the Boise State margin to three, 11-14, the Broncos responded with eight points over the next two and a half minutes to take their first double-digit lead of the game, 22-11. J.C. Younger’s three made it 14-22, but BSU outscored the Blue Hose 19-8 the final 9:01 of the half to go to the locker room leading 44-22.

Boise State opened the second half with a 14-6 run to take its largest lead of the game, 60-28, 12:28 on the clock. PC scored six unanswered, four from Reggie Dillard, to cut the lead back into the 20s, just over 10 to play. The Blue Hose cut the margin to 20, 50-70, five minutes later off a 6-0 run, highlighted by a Ruben Arroyo three-pointer

The PC bench scored 38 points, the highest of the season and since the 59 against Toccoa Falls early last season.

PC recorded 13 assists for the second straight game and have posted double-digit assists in four of five games.

For the Record
PC drops to 2-3, while Boise State improves to 3-2.
