SPARTANBURG, SC – Presbyterian College’s Maiken Bing Paulsen earned her first collegiate top-10 finish at the Terrier Intercollegiate and led the Blue Hose to seventh on the par-72, 6,012-yard course at the Country Club of Spartanburg on Tuesday.

Paulsen shot 152 (75, 77) to tie for eighth and lead PC for the second consecutive tournament. Abby Driscoll recorded the team’s best final round, +1, and climbed to a 17th place tie at 155 (82, 73). Ann Elizabeth Gore (160) tied for 40th while Alexandra Demko (165) tied for 45th. Playing as an individual, Rylie Marchman (165) also tied for 45th.

The Blue Hose were as high as fifth during the final round, but ended the day in seventh with a combined score of 622 (315, 307).

Winthrop (609) used a strong final round to overtake Western Carolina (610), App State (611), Georgia Southern (613) and Wofford (616). Gardner Webb (618) narrowly edged PC (622) for sixth place. USC Upstate (635), Converse (647) and UNC Asheville (653) rounded out the team scoring.

The Catamounts’ Natalia Villavicencio held on to win individual medalist honors at 146 (70, 76).

The Blue Hose will return to play at the Bill Berg Invitational at The Ridges Golf Club in Hayesville, NC, beginning on October 16.
