CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s soccer team shutout Hampton 5-0 on Sunday afternoon at Martin Stadium.

How it Happened

PC began the scoring in the 16th minute when Kristen Peagler found Francis Whitesides who then found the back of the net in the top-left of the goal, giving the Blue Hose a 1-0 lead. Peagler then scored the first of her two goals in the 50th minute on a shot that went under the goalkeeper’s arms and into the goal. Peagler scored again in the 53rd minute from about 15 yards out with a shot that went over the keeper’s head and into the top-left of the goal. Whitesides’ tallied her second goal of the day in the 73rd minute when Peagler lobbed the ball to Whitesides who headed it in for the goal. Ashlynn Powell got into the action in the 81st minute when she scored from about 45 yards out on a free kick that went through the keeper’s hands and into the goal.

Peagler tallied six points on two goals and two assists. She had six shots on the day, with five of them being on goal.

Stat of the Game

The PC defense not only held the Pirates scoreless, they also held the Pirates to zero shots in the entire game.

Record

PC moves to 1-0-0m while Hampton falls to 0-2-1.
