NINETY SIX, SC – The Presbyterian College men’s golf team finished 8th at the Big South Championship with a team score of 888 (311, 294, 283). The Blue Hose combined for Tuesday’s lowest round (-5) and ended with two top-20 finishers.

Carson Spears (Augusta, Ga) and Park Brady (Saint Simons Island, Ga) tied for 18th with three-day scores of 222. The duo combined to go -5 on Tuesday and was a big part of PC’s final round that marked a program best for The Patriot Golf Club (par-72, 7,120 yards).

Hayden Ploeger (Aiken, SC) tied for 30th with a score of 227 (77, 79, 71). Davis Parker (Augusta, Ga) and Cole Patterson (Traveler Rest, SC) tied for 35th at 229 to round out the team.

Liberty won the 2016 Big South Men’s Golf Championship title with a team score of 853.  Campbell held off Charleston Southern for second, 865 to 868. The Buc’s Austin James claimed medalist honors with an 11-under 205.

Only five strokes separated PC from fourth place. Edging the next five teams, Winthrop finished fourth (883) ahead of Radford (884), Longwood (886), Gardner-Webb (887) and PC (888). Coastal Carolina shot 908 for ninth place, while High Point was tenth with a team score of 931.

This was the final tournament of the season for the Blue Hose.
