CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men’s soccer team got topped by Gardner-Webb 1-0 Wednesday night in the final home match of the season at Martin Stadium. PC outshot GWU 20-12 in the match, but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Blue Hose fell to 0-14-1, 0-7-1 in the Big South Conference, while the Bulldogs went to 4-11-0, 3-4-0 on the season.
Frej Ramberg scored the lone goal of the game for Gardner-Webb right at the 42 minute mark. The Blue Hose attempted to clear a cross before Ramberg volleyed a shot that bounced right in front of the PC keeper and went into the goal.
The Blue Hose owned a 20-12 shot advantage with a 5-3 shot on goal lead and an 8-5 corner kick edge. John Speed (Decatur, Ga.) and Steven Huppe (Maggie Valley, N.C.) both led the way for PC with five shots and putting one on frame, while Onyemachi Provost (Aiken, S.C.) produced four shots and put one on goal.
Johnny Archer (Charlotte, N.C.) gathered two saves in goal for the Blue Hose.
Presbyterian travels to take on Liberty 1 p.m. Saturday in Lynchburg, Va.
