CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College played Erskine College (S.C.) to a 3-3 tie in men's soccer Saturday night at Martin Stadium in an exhibition game.
Junior John Speed (Decatur, Ga.) found the back of the net twice for the Blue Hose.
Erskine’s Ross Henderson struck first in the 32nd minute to put the Flying Fleet on top early.
PC responded with two goals to take the lead. First, Speed beat the goalie in the 38th minute. The Blue Hose took advantage of a throw in deep in Flying Fleet territory to claim the lead. Bruce Olivier (Johannesburg, South Africa) flicked the ball in the 18-yard box and Onyemachi Provost (Aiken, S.C.) was there to clean it up.
Erskine responded with two goals of their own to re-take the lead. Jake Lochstampfor scored in the 61st minute and Ross Henderson beat the keeper in the 66th with an assist from Luke Boyce.
Speed struck again in the 76th minute with a goal on a free kick outside the 18.
Senior goalie Johnny Archer (Charlotte, N.C.) collected two saves in 85 minutes of play, while junior keeper Jess Glasgow (Conway, S.C.) make one save in five minutes of action.
The Blue Hose open the regular season 7 p.m. Friday against LIU Brooklyn at Martin Stadium.
