COLUMBIA, SC – The Presbyterian College women’s cross country team finished 7th at the Carolina Challenge on Saturday morning. Senior Gabriele Lesieur led the Blue Hose with a top-20 performance.
Lesieur (Augusta, Ga) finished 20th overall with time of 21:17 and continued a streak of 18-straight races as the team’s top-finisher. Freshman Bea DiBona (Charleston, SC) challenged Lesieur early but eventually crossed at 22:02 for 26th place in her first collegiate race.
Junior Hayley McCoy (Chapin, SC) and senior Jessica Hatchell (Darlington, SC) ran times of 22:30 and 22:49 for 31st and 34th respectively. Rounding out the top-5 was sophomore Christin Van Hoy (Summerville, SC) in 23:55 for 40th place. Junior Abby Waldron (Clinton, SC) finished in 27:57 for 54th.
South Carolina’s Stephanie Berger won the invitational with a 5k time of 19:00 and led the Gamecocks to a perfect score of 15 points. Rounding out the team scoring was Georgia Southern (73), The Citadel (96), Tennesse Tech (105), South Carolina St. (132), Pfeiffer (144) and PC (151).
The Blue Hose will be back in action on Friday evening at the Eye Opener in Spartanburg, S.C.
