The Presbyterian College volleyball team opens the 2014 season Friday under the direction of second-year head coach Korrinn Burgess. The Blue Hose travel to DeKalb, Ill., to participate in the NIU Invitational Aug. 29-30.

PC faces the host Huskies Friday at 8 p.m., before taking on Northwestern Saturday at 11 a.m., and Colorado at 6 p.m.  All matches times are Eastern.

The Blue Hose welcome five newcomers to the team, including four freshmen and a junior.

With five newcomers on the team, PC will rely heavily on the experience of its five seniors, Kelly Berryman, Aubrey Dooley, Ashtin Frank, Rachel Hall and Mary Trimpe.

Berryman played all 122 sets and had 246 kills and 114 total blocks, averaging 2.02 kills per set and .93 blocks per set. She was ninth in the Big South in blocks with 0.93 a game and sixth in blocks in conference play (0.97). Her 571 kills ranks seventh in the PC Division I Career record book. She recorded a career-best nine blocks against Gardner-Webb, which is tied for the most in PC Division I history.

Frank played all 122 sets, led the team with 1147 assists and was second on the team in digs with 291. She averaged 9.40 assists per set and 2.39 assists per set.  Frank recorded 11 matches with at least 40 assists and has 3,552 assists, and carries a .411 assist percentage, both of which rank first and second, respectively, in the PC DI career record book.

Hall played all 122 sets and led the team with 353 kills and had 65 total blocks, averaging 2.89 kills per set and .53 blocks per set. She had 19 kills against Gardner-Webb (11/9) and was ninth in the league in kills per set with 2.89.  She posted a career-best 19 kills against Gardner-Webb and is 204 from becoming just the third player in PC’s DI history to reach 1,000 career kills.

Trimpe was recently named to the BIg South Preseason All-Conference team. Trimpe led the team last season with 684 digs and 55 aces, and was second on the team with 89 assists.   Her 684 digs in 2013 ranked first in the PC DI season record book.
