MARIETTA, Ga. – The Tennis Recruiting Network has ranked the Presbyterian College men’s tennis team’s incoming freshman class at No. 20 among NCAA mid-major schools, the website announced today.
“This is a great honor for our program,” said head coach Adam Herendeen. “One of the goals I had when I started here was to get a ranked recruiting class and I am proud to see this class receive that honor. It is a great tribute not only to the four incoming players but also to what our team has achieved in recent years.”
Will Baird (Raleigh, N.C.), Lukas Lückemeier (Greven, Germany), Alexander Lykou (Aarhus, Denmark) and Brandon Mills (Lilburn, Ga.) will join the Blue Hose for 2014-15. Tennis Recruiting ranks Baird and Mills as four-star recruits and only ranks American players.
The mid-major rankings in tennis include all colleges in all divisions except for those in the five so-called "major" football conferences - the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, and SEC - as well as the Ivy League.
PC stands as the only Big South Conference school in the Top 25 rankings. PC finished ahead of schools like South Florida (No. 22), Xavier (No. 23), Middle Tennessee (No. 24), Central Florida (receiving consideration), DePaul (receiving consideration), Furman (receiving consideration) and Gardner-Webb (receiving consideration).
