Baseball to Face Coastal Carolina in Thursday-Friday-Saturday Series

CONWAY, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team heads to Conway, S.C., this week for a Thursday-Friday-Saturday series at Coastal Carolina. All three games begin at noon.

All three games will be shown on the Big South Network presented by State Farm.

Tuesday’s game against Furman was postponed due to rain in the Laurens County area.

The Blue Hose will start RHP Aaron Lesiak (1-3, 3.90 ERA) on Friday and RHP Chandler Knox (5-4, 3.18 ERA) on Saturday. Lesiak (Greenville, S.C.) tossed a complete game shutout on Friday in his fifth career start, allowing only six hits and no runs in a nine-inning performance. The Chanticleers will counter with RHP Tyler Herb (6-3, 3.07 ERA), LHP Austin Kerr (0-0, 4.15 ERA) and RHP Chase Adkins (0-0, 4.15 ERA) on Sunday. Chandler Knox (Columbia, S.C.) earned his team-leading fifth win on Saturday against Winthrop and freshman reliever Ethan Wortkoetter (Greer, S.C.) picked up his third save in the victory.

PC (12-23-1, 5-10 Big South) went 2-2 last week, falling to Western Carolina before taking the first two games of its home series against Winthrop for a series win. Cam McRae (Darlington, S.C.) and Nate Chong (Duluth, Ga.) hit back-to-back home runs in Friday’s win. Brad Zebedis leads the team with a .325 batting average and a .420 on-base percentage while McRae paces the Blue Hose in home runs (five) and RBI (21). PC improved its record to 9-4 when scoring in the first inning.

Coastal Carolina (17-21, 8-7 Big South) grabbed two wins at Radford over the weekend before dropping a road game at No. 20 Clemson on Tuesday night, 9-6. Tyler Chadwick and Connor Owings lead the Chanticleers with a .327 batting average each while Zach Remillard brings a team-leading 27 RBI into the series. Coastal boasts a 3.62 team ERA and hits .257 collectively at the plate.

Following the Easter holiday, PC returns home to host Wofford on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
