NINETY SIX, SC – Presbyterian College’s Libby Crawford shot a 54-hole collegiate best and became the first golfer in school history to finish in the top-10 at the Big South Championship on Tuesday.
Crawford (Chapin, SC) shot 228 (75, 75, 78) to tie for 10th overall. The sophomore earned her second career top-10 finish and came within two strokes of the program's 54-hole record.
After entering the day in fourth, rain delays and soggy conditions proved to be too much as the Blue Hose fell to ninth at 955 (309, 309, 337). The team did, however, shoot a 36-hole program best for The Patriot GC (618) and fell within seven strokes of the 54-hole best, 948, set last season.
Freshman Abby Driscoll (Duncan, SC) tied for 22nd with a score of 235 (76, 76, 83) and sophomore MJ Nogay (Silver Spring, Md) tied for 36th at 245 (79, 79, 87). Senior Mary Kathryn Linder (Athens, Ga) ended her career with a collegiate-best 249 (79, 79, 91) to finish 41st while classmate Kalie Goodman (Easley, SC) finished 44th at 254 (80, 85, 89).
Campbell, ranked 53rd nationally, set a 54-hole conference tournament record (864; 278, 289, 297) to win the title by 30 strokes over runner-up Coastal Carolina. The Camel’s freshman Louise Latorre (213; 68, 73, 72) won her first collegiate tournament to claim individual honors and break the Big South individual 54-hole score by one stroke. Campbell also advances to the NCAA women's golf regional round, from May 8-10.
This was the last tournament of the year for PC. The Blue Hose will look to build off the performances of Crawford, Nogay, and Driscoll next season as they all return.Big South Conference Women's Golf Championship
