Mills, Manzanas Sweep Big South Men's Tennis Weekly Awards
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Presbyterian College’s Grayson Mills (Lilburn, Ga.) has been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while the Blue Hose’s Diego Manzanas (Madrid, Spain) has been named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for matches played Jan. 20-26, it was announced today by the League office.
Mills won a pair of top flight singles matches and two doubles matches last week in a doubleheader with The Citadel. He topped the Bulldogs’ Elliott Sperr (6-2, 6-3) in the first singles match and Peter Bleach (6-2, 6-2) in the second match. In doubles action, Mills teamed up with Ryan Miller to take down Sperr and Dillon Berkabile in the No. 1 flight, 8-3. In the second doubles match of the day, he paired with Ben Kelley in the No. 2 flight for an 8-4 win over Oliver Dedding and Connor Grady.
Manzanas also earned a pair of singles and doubles wins for the Blue Hose last week. He began by knocking off Joe Bove (6-1, 6-1) in the fifth flight. In his second singles win, he knocked off Oliver Dedding in the No. 4 flight, 6-1, 7-5. Manzanas paired up with Steven Weaver to take down the duo of Peter Bleach and Joe Bove at the No. 3 flight twice. In the first of two matchups, they won 8-0 before taking an 8-4 victory in the second match.
The men's team next plays at home on Wednesday, February 5 at 3 p.m.
