Men's Golf Remains Third at Kiawah Classic
KIAWAH ISLAND, SC – The Presbyterian College men’s golf team remains in third place after two rounds of the Kiawah Classic. The Blue Hose have an aggregate score of 589 (292, 297) and all five golfers in the top-25 of the 18-team tournament.
Sophomore Davis Parker (Augusta, Ga) improved to 147 (74, 73) on the par-72 course to end the day tied for 16th. One stroke back, senior William Sigg (Athens, Ga) is tied for 20th at 148 (73, 75). Just one stroke further, a trio of Blue Hose are tied for 24th at 149. Senior Carter Davis (Spartanburg, SC) shot rounds of 76 and 73, junior Samuel Jackson (Pelion, SC) recorded rounds of 73 and 76, and senior Colt Crymes (Athens, Ga) carded rounds of 72 and 77.
South Carolina extended its lead with a second round of 286. The Gamecocks hold a lead of 19 strokes over second place Marquette, 569 to 588. PC sits in third at 589. Missouri is fourth (592), Winthrop fifth (593) and Charleston Southern sixth (594). Towson and Radford are tied for seventh at 596. Elon (598) and Wisconsin (601) round out the top-10.
The Golden Eagles’ Nick Nelson holds a two-stroke lead over the Gamecock’s Will Starke, 137 to 139, in the race for individual medalist honors.
The third and final round will be played with a shotgun start on Tuesday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m.
