Doar, McKie Honored by the CFPA
The College Football Performance weekly awards were announced today and Stephen Doar (Landrum, S.C.) was named FCS National Punter of the Week Honorable Mention, while Jeremiah McKie (Simpsonville, S.C.) was named FCS National Kickoff Returner of the Week for their success on the field this past Saturday in the 49-35 win over VMI.
Doar was solid this Saturday with each of his three punts on the day landing inside the 20-yard line, setting up the Keydets deep in their own territory each time. In place of injured Brett Wilson, Doar handled PATs, finding success on all seven attempts. He averaged 37.7 yards a punt, his long a 47-yarder.
McKie racked up 283 all-purpose yards against VMI, 151 of them coming on kick returns. He caught three on the day, one resulting in a 97-yard touchdown, the first of his career and first of any Big South player this season. He recorded a 50-yard punt return for a touchdown earlier this season against Brevard. The 97-yard kickoff return was the longest in PC’s Division I history, eclipsing Michael Ruff’s 92-yard kick return against Brevard last year.
