Boatright Invited to Redskins' Mini-Camp
Presbyterian College defensive tackle Xavier Boatright, from Manning, S.C., was invited to the NFL rookie mini-camp for the Washington Redskins, it was announced today.
Boatright ranked 32nd in the Big South Conference in tackles within all positions and was fourth in tackles among ends/linemen. He played in 38 games for PC and finished his career with over 100 total tackles.
The 6-5, 305 lb., redshirt-senior was sixth this season in tackles with 49, and posted a career-high eight tackles this season against Charleston Southern.
This marks the second PC player to get a shot at the NFL in as many years. Last season Justin Bethel became the ninth player from PC to be drafted by the NFL, going in the sixth round, and the first since Dan Eckstein, who was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the 15th round in 1969. Bethel's sixth round selection was the highest, eclipsing Bob Waters who was chosen by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round in 1960.
