Three to Join PC Volleyball Program

Presbyterian College and head volleyball coach Korrinn Burgess announced her first recruiting class with the signing of Outside Hitter Halle Tripp, Defensive Specialist Mikayla Register and setter Sara Rogers to National Letters of Intent to join the Blue Hose this coming fall.

"We are very excited to announce the addition of three student-athletes to our program for 2013," said coach Burgess, who is in her first year with PC.  "They are outstanding young people, who have had a lot of success and experience during their prep careers. Halle, Mikayla, and Sara are all committed to having an impact on the future success of our team and our program.  I believe they will blend wonderfully with our current team members and have the ability to contribute greatly to our success during their collegiate careers."

Halle Tripp - OH - 5-10 (Travelers Rest/Travelers Rest)
A four-year letter-winner of the volleyball team at Travelers Rest High School, she was named team captain her senior season ... Was named Offensive Player-of-the-Year as a sophomore and junior and earned Peach Blossom 3A Regional Player-of-the-Year honors as a senior ... A South Carolina Scholar-Athlete, she was a Devildog MVP and on the SC All-State team her senior year ... Tripp was also on the Peach Blossom 3A All-Region team her last three seasons ... Her hitting percentage in high school was .275 and she averaged 2.4 digs and 3.2 kills per set ... Played for the Carolina One Volleyball Club for five years ... Finished third in the Palmetto Regional tournament this past season ... Was a three-year member of the All-Region First Team ... Earned several academic accolades in high school and was a Lander and Columbia College Scholar, and was on the National Honor Society ... She chose PC because of the size of the campus and the people that she encountered on her visit ... She was impressed with the academic and athletic standards of the college as well ... Born April 2, 1995 ... daughter of Ricky and Larie Tripp ... Her mother played basketball at Erskine ...

Mikayla Register - DS/L - 5-3 (Woodruff, S.C./Woodruff)
Register was a four-year letterman for Woodruff High School ... Her team was Region and Upper State Champion in 2010 and advanced to the State Championship finals in 2010 ... Earned All-Region honors all four years and was a Hustle Award winner in 2010 and 2011 ... She was named Most valuable Player in 2012 and was a Top Scholar in 2011 and 2012 ... She was also a Scholar Athlete all four years ... She was a softball athlete as well, and helped the team to the Region Championship in 2012 ...  She was an All-Region member in 2011 and earned the Sportsmanship Award in 2010 ... At the club level she played for Club South, which was state champion for seven years ... Named the Student of the Month in May of 2011, she also earned the Freshman Science Award in 2010 ... A member of the FCA and National Honor Society, she took Youth Mission trips from 2009-2012 ... She chose PC because was a school where she could get a good education and continue her volleyball career ... Born May 5, 1995 ... Daughter of Kevin and Myra Register ...

Sara Rogers - S - 5-11 (Johns Creek, Ga./Johns Creek)
A four-year letterwinner and starting setter at Johns Creek High School, she was team captain as well ... her team advanced to the Sweet 16 her freshman year, the Elite Eight her junior year and the final four her sophomore and senior years ... An All-Area team member her junior and senior years ... Won the Gladiator Freedom Award, voted on by the team, and was named the Offensive Player-of-the-Year ... She holds the record for most assists in a season with 958 her senior year ... The HS Honor Roll member played for the A5 club team and qualified for Nationals in the 13s, 15,s and 18s ... Rogers chose PC because it was the perfect size and the campus was beautiful ...  Born September 9, 1994 in Atlanta, Ga. ... Parents are Brad and Jean Rogers ... Brother Andrew played football at Western Carolina ...
