Men's Tennis Downs Kennesaw State, 5-2

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Presbyterian College men’s tennis team grabbed its third straight victory with a 5-2 road decision over Kennesaw State on Saturday afternoon.

PC moves to 7-6 overall and 5-6 on the spring. The Blue Hose next travel to Charlotte for a Tuesday matchup against the 49ers at 2:30 p.m. Kennesaw State falls to 2-4.

After dropping the doubles point despite an 8-6 win from Danny Bruce (Marietta, Ga.) and Edward Snead IV (Greenwood, S.C.), PC won singles flights two through six to knock off the Owls.

William O’Connell kicked the victories off with a 6-2, 6-3 second-flight win over Maksim Yorsh before the freshman Bruce picked up his eighth win of the season in a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Louis Theodor at No. 3.

After a close Grayson Mills (Lilburn, Ga.) defeat at the top flight, the match stood tied at 2-2. PC broke the deadlock as Andrew Brigham (Birmingham, England) pulled out a three-set win over Gianni Kubin, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 to put PC ahead.

Gonzalo Asis (Madrid, Spain) then came through at No. 6. Asis outdueled Alexander Pena in another three-set thriller, 7-5, 5-7, 6-2.

With the match decided, Rafael Berghaus (Offenbach, Germany) added icing on the cake by dispatching Gokalp Ozdemir in a marathon at the fourth flight, 6-2, 6-7 (12-10), 7-5.
