Jackson Leads Blue Hose At Kiawah Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's golf team finished the Wendy's Kiawah Classic, hosted by Charleston Southern, in 17th place with a cumulative score of 921 (299, 305, 317) on Tuesday. Sophomore Samuel Jackson tied for 43rd to lead the Blue Hose for the fourth straight tournament.

Jackson (Pelion, S.C.) finished with a three-round score of 228 (75, 72, 81) on the par-71 Turtle Point course. Freshman Davis Parker (Augusta, Ga.) shot 232 (74, 73, 85) to finish 63rd. Junior Carter Davis (Spartanburg, S.C.) tied for 75th with a score of 234 (77, 77, 80). Classmate Colt Crymes (Athens, Ga.) moved up into a tie for 77th with a score of 235 (74, 83, 78) in his first collegiate tournament. Senior Matt Sizemore (Richmond, Va.) shot 239 (76, 85, 78) and moved into a tie for 99th.

South Carolina's Caleb Sturgeon shot 210 (68, 74 68) to win individual medalist honors and lead the Gamecocks to a 20-stroke win over runner-up Winthrop.

This tournament ended the fall competitive season for the Blue Hose. They will return to play at the Wexford Intercollegiate from February 17-19.
