Cross Country Finishes 12th At Big South Championships

Rock Hill, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's and women's cross country teams finished twelfth at the 2012 Big South Cross Country Championships presented by UCS and Musco Lighting on Saturday morning.

Sophomore Jessica Hatchell (Darlington, S.C.) led the women's team with an improved time of 21:11 on Winthrop's 5k course while junior Seth Warner (Fort Mill, S.C.) led the men's team their fastest 8k of the season (29:33).

Freshman Hayley McCoy (Chapin, S.C.) ran 23:32 while classmate Abby Waldron (Clinton, S.C.) ran 24:40. Sophomore Jennifer Lockman (Woodruff, S.C.) ran through an injury to finish in 24:53. Sophomore Grace Lifer (Hilton Head, S.C.) ran 26:19, and freshman Chloe Beesburg (Chapin, S.C.) ran an improved time of 30:29.

Junior Richard Taylor (Spartanburg, S.C.) ran 29:50. Junior Ryan Wasilewski (Easley, S.C.) ran 30:33, with freshman Reid McCandless (Fort Mill, S.C.) close behind in 30:49. Senior Brian Trail (Marion, S.C.) ended his collegiate 8k career with a time of 32:16.

Liberty won the women's and men's 2012 Big South Cross Country Championship with 40 points and 28 points respectively. The Flames' Jennifer Klugh took female Runner of the Year honors with a school record time of 17:18, while High Point's Jacob Smith claimed the men's Runner of the Year with an 8k of 24:35.

PC finished the women's race with 389 points and the men's with 365 points.
