Men's Soccer Welcomes High Point for Saturday Senior Night

CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men’s soccer team (3-13-0, 2-5-0 Big South) ends the home portion of its regular season when the Blue Hose host High Point (11-3-2, 4-4-2) on Saturday night at 7. PC will honor Jonny Mercado, Byron Quinatoa, Newt Turk and Oliver Nobels on Senior Night, as well as manager Chris Paschal.

The match will be video streamed on the Big South Network presented by State Farm.

High Point enters the week with an 11-3-2 record and a 4-4-2 marker in Big South Conference play.  The Panthers are 0-2-1 in their last three after an overtime loss at Liberty on Tuesday and a scoreless tie against Radford on Saturday. The Panthers went 10-0-1 through their first 11 games and are led by Mamadee Nyepon’s nine goals and 21 points. High Point ranks second in the league in goals (36) and points (104).

High Point holds a narrow edge in the all-time series, 4-3-1. The Panthers have taken the last three matches after a 2-2 tie in 2008 in Clinton. PC won the first three meetings from 1991 to 1993, allowing only one goal. 

PC fell to the Campbell Camels in a conference road match on Saturday afternoon, 3-0. Ignacio Monchetti tallied a shot on goal for the Blue Hose in the first half while Blue Hose goalkeeper Tyler Beadle made seven saves on the afternoon, with four coming in the opening frame.

Goalkeeper Tyler Beadle enters Saturday with 107 saves on the year, leading the Big South Conference by 17. Beadle holds the top spot in NCAA Division I by 10, over Toba Bolaji of Robert Morris. The Blue Hose netminder also ranks second in saves per game through last week’s games, with 6.69. 

 

PC wraps up the 2012 regular season with road contests against Gardner-Webb (October 31) and VMI (November 3).
