Blue Hose Have Strong Race At Upstate

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's cross country team placed five runners in the overall top-15 at the Upstate Invitational on Saturday morning. All six of PC's runners ran their fastest times of the season.

The Blue Hose had five runners score between ninth and 14th place. Junior Richard Taylor (Spartanburg, S.C.) claimed ninth with a time of 29:39. Junior Seth Warner (Fort Mill, S.C.) finished ten seconds later in 10th place at 29:49. Freshman Reid McCandless (Fort Mill, S.C.) earned 11th with a time of 30:11. Junior Ryan Wasilewski (Easley, S.C.) finished 12th with a time of 30:18. Senior Brian Trail (Marion, S.C.) rounded out the scoring five at 14th place in a time of 31:09. Junior Kevin Quan (Greenwood, S.C.) earned 23rd place with a season's best and personal-best 8k time of 32:51.

USC Upstate won the event with a perfect score of 15 points and were led by individual winner Gilbert Kemboi. PC finished second with a score of 56 points. Piedmont scored 78 points for third. Erskine was fourth with 91 points. Wofford had two runners compete, but did not receive a team score.

This was PC's third race in as many weeks. Their next race will be the Big South Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C., on October 27.
