Khalid Mutakabbir (Suwanee, Ga.) was named to the Big South Men's Basketball Preseason All-Conference team as announced today by the league's coaches and media.  Presbyterian College was picked to finish sixth in the Preseason South Division poll as well.

Mutakabbir, who earned second team honors, started in all 29 games last season and was second on the team in scoring with 13.7.  He earned Big South Player-of-the-Week honors Nov. 21.  The senior finished 15th in the league in scoring, 11th in field goal percentage (.439) and first in minutes played (36.38) in 2012.  He moved up to second in the PC Division I era record books in points (1,075) scoring average (11.8), free throws (193) and assists (204).  He is also in the top five in three-pointers (98), rebounds (290), steals (99) and games started (90) at PC.  With 1,075 points last season, Mutakabbir became the second player in PC's Division I history and 21st under Head Coach Gregg Nibert, to go over 1,000 career points.

One of Mutakabbir's highlights came last season when he hit a career-high 25 points off a best 11 field goals, including the game-winning three-pointer with 7.6 seconds at Cincinnati as the Blue Hose upset the 20th-Ranked Bearcats 56-54

The Blue Hose were picked to finish sixth in the South Division after finishing the 2011-12 with a PC Division I era record 14 wins, one shy of its first non-losing season since 2007.  PC returns just one starter from last season as 58.8% of the 1,889 total points scored in 2011-12 were from the tandem of Al'Lonzo Coleman, Pierre Miller, Josh Johnson and Jay Reynolds.  Of the 778 remaining points, 398 were scored by Mutakabbir.

Campbell was picked to finish the North Division with 21 first-place votes, while Charleston Southern was picked to win the South with 16 first-place votes.  PC earned 50 votes, with Gardner Webb being picked to finish just ahead with 58 points.
