Mabrey Picks Up Big South Player of the Week Honors
Presbyterian College outside hitter Presley Mabrey (Lyman, S.C.) has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Volleyball Player of the Week, while Charleston Southern middle blocker Meredith Parrott (Mobile, Ala.) is the CRONS Brand Freshman of the Week for matches played Oct.1-Oct. 7. In addition, Radford's Katelyn Meeks (Richmond, Va.) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Mabrey's solid play helped Presbyterian to a 2-0 week. Mabrey averaged five kills and two digs per set last week. In the win against Gardner-Webb, she recorded 16 kills, a .297 hitting percentage, and tabbed five digs. In the win against UNC Asheville, she posted another 14 kills, a .385 hitting percentage, and recorded seven digs. She ended the week totaling 30 kills with a .333 hitting percentage, 12 digs and two service aces.
Parrott played a crucial role in Charleston Sothern's 3-2 win over Coastal Carolina. The freshman put away 14 kills with a .407 hitting percentage and posted eight blocks.
Meeks anchored Radford's back row last week. She tabbed 40 digs and averaged 5.71 digs per set. In the match against High Point, she posted 25 digs. Against Campbell, she recorded another 15 digs. This is Meeks' second nod for Defensive Player of the Week.
