Jackson Leads Blue Hose At Rees Jones Invitational

DAUFUSIKIE ISLAND, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's golf team combined to shoot a three-round score of 965 (330, 315, 320) at the Rees Jones Invitational on Tuesday afternoon to claim 12th place.

Sophomore Samuel Jackson (Pelion, S.C.) led the Blue Hose with a score of 236 (83, 76, 77) and 43rd place. Sophomore Charlie Smiley (Savannah, Ga.) finished tied for 49th at 242 (83, 79, 80). Senior Matt Sizemore (Richmond, Va.) recovered slightly during round three to finish at 246 (81, 84, 81) and tied for 56th with sophomore Harrison Vance (Richmond, Va.) who shot rounds of 83, 81, and 82. Freshman Davis Parker (Augusta, Ga.) finished his first collegiate tournament one stroke back at 247 (84, 79, 84) in 60th place.

Liberty's Niklas Lindstrom took medalist honors with a 3-under-par total of 213 (73, 70, 70) to beat out a trio of teammates who all tied for second at 219. The Flames' team score of 6-over-par (870) in the play-five-count-four format was lowest in the tournament's short history. East Carolina rallied with a third round of 293 to overtake host South Carolina for second place by two strokes, by a total of 894 to 896.

Defending team champion Kennesaw State (2010 and 2011 winner) finished eighth among the 12 teams with a 921 total.

The Blue Hose will next play at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate hosted by Appalachian State at the Mimosa Hills Country Club from October 14-16.
