CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men’s soccer team (2-8-0, 1-1-0) rolls into October with a pair of Big South Conference contests, hosting UNC Asheville (1-9-0, 0-3-0) on Wednesday before traveling to Radford (4-2-3, 2-0-0) for a Saturday night matchup. The Blue Hose aim to expand on a 1-1-0 league record after a tough losing battle against nationally-ranked Coastal Carolina over the weekend.

UNC Asheville will enter Laurens County on a nine-match losing streak, following a season-opening 5-0 win over Brevard with nine straight losses. The Bulldogs fell to Winthrop at home on Saturday, 3-1, in their first Big South action since a 1-0 defeat against Longwood on September 9. Patrick Phillip leads the team with two goals while five Bulldogs have each scored one.

Radford makes the short trip to Longwood on Wednesday before heading home to welcome PC. The Highlanders bring a 4-2-3 record into the week and have not lost in their last three matches, rocking Gardner-Webb to the tune of a 6-1 score on Saturday night. Bernardo Ulmo ranks second in the Big South Conference in goals (seven) while goalkeeper Ryan Taylor checks in at third in save percentage (.787).

The Blue Hose aim to grab their first win against UNC Asheville in the last six tries, trailing by a 1-8-1 record.  PC dropped last year’s road meeting by a 4-2 margin despite goals from Byron Quinatoa and Tommy Erwood. Saturday’s match against Radford will give one team the edge in the 2-2-0 series. Jonny Mercado’s brace gave PC last year’s match, 2-2.

PC dropped a Big South Conference match to No. 17 Coastal Carolina on Saturday, 3-0. Tyler Beadle made 10 saves (second-most this season) while Ignacio Monchetti paced the Blue Hose with two shots on goal in the effort.

The Blue Hose play their last two consecutive home matches next, hosting Winthrop on Tuesday, October 9 and Liberty on Friday, October 12.
