Jackson's Second Round Leads Blue Hose
DAUFUSIKIE ISLAND, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's golf team finished day one of the Rees Jones Invitational with a team score of 645 (330, 315) and in 12th place.
Sophomore Samuel Jackson (Pelion, S.C.) led the Blue Hose on the day after an improved second round, finishing at 159 (83, 76) for 48th place. Sophomore Charlie Smiley (Savannah, Ga.) stands three strokes back, at 162 (83, 79), and tied for 52nd. Freshman Davis Parker (Augusta, Ga.) improved to finish the day at 163 (84, 79) in 57th place. Sophomore Harrison Vance (Richmond, Va.) shot 164 (83, 81) to tie for 58th. Senior Matt Sizemore (Richmond, Va.) fell back to 165 (81, 84) to finish day one in 61st place.
Liberty has four players in the top-5 and holds a 17-stroke lead over South Carolina. The Flames have a two-round score of 574 (284, 290) compared to the host Gamecocks' score of 591 (295, 296). Liberty's Ian McConnell holds a one-stroke lead over fellow Flame Niklas Lindstrom in the hunt for individual medalist honors. McConnell ended the day at two-under par 142 (68, 74).
The third round will be played Tuesday at the Haig Point Club with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
