The Presbyterian College volleyball team saw three players post nine kills apiece as the Blue Hose earned their first victory of the season, defeating Eastern Washington 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-16) during second day action of the UniWyo Wyoming Invite being held Aug. 24-25 in Laramie, Wyo.

PC moves to 1-2 overall, while the Eagles fall to 0-3.

Leading the Blue Hose were Presley Mabrey, Allison Brown and Kelly Berryman, all of whom recorded a team-leading nine kills.  Brown only had three errors to finish with a .333 hitting percentage.  Ashtin Frank, who had four kills, led the team with 31 assists.  Mabrey had 16 digs, while Mary Trimpe added 13 on the day.

PC posted 42 kills on the match, compared to just 28 for Eastern Washington.  The Blue Hose and Eagles each finished with six total blocks.

Ahead 20-17 in the first game, the Blue Hose dropped four straight to find themselves down 20-21.  The Eagles built a 24-22 lead before PC capitalized on a kill by Mabrey, Brown and Elizabeth Miler to take the next four points and come away with the 26-24 win.

The Blue Hose built a 19-13 lead in the second game before Eastern Washington used a 6-1 run, due in part to three PC attack errors and three EWU kills by Kellen Barfield, to cut the margin to one, 20-19.  Mabrey recorded back-to-back kills to pull away at the end, taking the 25-21 win.

A 10-4 run in the third game broke open a 7-7 tie and gave PC the 17-11 lead.  EWU cut the deficit to three, 17-14, off two PC miscues, but that would be as close as the Eagles would get with the Blue Hose scoring the next nine of 11 points to take the 25-16 victory.

The Blue Hose finish tournament play this afternoon with a 7 p.m. (ET) match against San Francisco.
