After dropping the first two games to Seattle, the Presbyterian College volleyball team fought back to win the third game before falling in the fourth by just three points, as the Redhawks took the 3-1 (15-25, 21-25, 25-21, 22-25) win in the opening game of the UniWyo Wyoming Invite being held Aug. 24-25 in Laramie, Wyo.  It was the season-opener for both teams.

A one and two point deficit throughout the early stages of the first game turned in to a 13-9 lead for Seattle before the Blue Hose fought back to tie it up at 13 apiece.  PC mustered just two points the remainder of the game, as the Redhawks used a 12-2 run to close with the 25-15 win.

Down 13-19 in the second game, PC capitalized on two Seattle miscues and back-to-back kills by Elizabeth Miler to cut the margin to 17-19.  The Redhawks were able to maintain at least a three-point advantage the remainder of the game and came away with the four-point 25-21 win in game two.

Tied 14-14 in the third game, The Blue Hose used four kills by Presley Mabrey and two by Kelly Berryman to open up a 23-17 lead, which was capped off by a 5-0 run.  Seattle cut the margin to 23-19, before PC came back to take the eventual 25-21 win.

PC fell early in the fourth game, down by as much as seven, 4-11, and five, 12-17 by the midway point.  The Blue Hose took advantage of five Seattle errors and a kill by Allison Brown to tie the game at 18-18.  PC tied the game again at 19-19 off a kill by Rachel Hall before Seattle took the lead for good off back-to-back kills to make it 21-19.  Hall cut the margin to one, 20-21, with a kill but that would be as close as the Blue Hose would get as the Redhawks took the next four of six points for the 25-22 win.

Leading the Blue Hose offensively were Mabrey with 12 kills and Brown with 10.  Ashtin Frank picked up 36 assists, while Mary Trimpe added 14 digs.  As a team the Blue Hose connected on 41 kills, but 36 errors for a .039 hitting percentage.  PC had nine total blocks, with on block solo.

Seattle was led by Sarah Jaeckel with 11 kills and Karina Miastkowska with 10.  The team ended with 44 kills and just 24 errors for a .165 hitting percentage.

PC takes to the court this afternoon against Wyoming at 3:30 p.m. (ET)
