PC Places 157 On 2011-2012 Big South Conference Honor Roll
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Big South Conference placed 1,547 out of 3,278 student-athletes - 47.19 percent - on its prestigious annual Presidential Honor Roll list for the 2011-12 academic season, it was announced today by Big South Conference Commissioner Kyle B. Kallander. To be named to the Presidential Honor Roll, student-athletes must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better for the recently-completed academic year. The 47.19 percentage marks the highest percentage since 2003 and is the eighth-straight year above the 40 percent threshold, as well as the seventh consecutive year-to-year improvement. It is also the third year-in-a row over 45 percent.
Presbyterian College placed 157 student-athletes on the Honor Roll, marking the third straight year with over 150 Blue Hose on the list and a five-member increase from 2010-11. At least one student-athlete from all 16 teams in 2011-12 was named to the Honor Roll, matching last year's feat.
PC ranked as one of six full-time members to place at least 50 percent of its student-athletes on the Presidential Honor Roll, checking in with 53.40 percent of its 294 student-athletes.
"The Big South Conference has always taken a lot of pride in the academic accomplishments of its student-athletes," said Kallander. "To have nearly half of all student-athletes make the Presidential Honor Roll for the eighth consecutive year is a reflection of the outstanding individuals in the Conference and their priorities. We are all extremely proud of the achievements of these fine young men and women."
